The group of Roland Foisner has been studying the functions of the nucleoplasmic lamin A/C binding protein Lamina-associated polypeptide 2alpha (LAP2alpha) and its involvement in laminopathic diseases. Previous studies in the lab have implicated nucleoplasmic lamin A-LAP2alpha complexes in the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation of adult stem cells. Within the EURO-Laminopathies project the team investigates muscle stem cell function in LAP2alpha knock out mouse models by analysing muscle function and regeneration in vivo and testing muscle stem cell differentiation ex vivo in primary cells.
